PBMA's H.V. Desai Eye Hospital
A total of 175.2 kW solar PV system was designed and installed across 2 buildings of hospital after studying available roof space available. A total of 426 panels were installed which are expected to generate 2,45,400 units of electricity in the first year. The hospital is estimated to save Rs 31,00,000 from their electricity bill annually. Additionally the system will lead to a reduction in carbon emissions of 4,480 MTCO2e in its lifespan.
About the Hospital
The PBMA’s H. V. Desai Eye Hospital, is the project of – The Poona Blind Men’s Association, a charitable organization, working for socio-economic rehabilitation of the blind since 1960.
Based at Pune, it is committed to provide eye care, with quality and equity, without discrimination between free and paying patients, since the year 2000.
Since commencement the 95 bedded hospital has examined 57.18 lakhs patients in OPD and performed around 6.41 lakhs eye surgeries, of which 70% are free.
