About the School
The Greater Mumbai Education Society (GMES), established in 1952 by a group of South Indian residents in Vile Parle East, Mumbai, began with a vision to provide quality education while preserving mother tongue literacy. Starting with just 27 students in 1953, the school has grown steadily and now educates more than 1,700 students from nursery to standard 10. Originally operating from a modest single-storey structure, it now boasts two three-storey buildings, thanks to community support and visionary leadership. GMES is committed to promoting education in all forms, including scientific research, sports, fine arts, and computer literacy. The school also encourages students to participate in sports and developmental activities by organising classes, lectures, exhibitions, and activities in areas such as computer literacy, fine arts, music, and yoga.
