Akshara High School
A total of 14.98 kW solar PV system was installed at the school. A total of 28 panels were installed which are expected to generate 20,972 units of electricity in the first year. The school is estimated to save Rs 2,09,720 in the same period from their electricity bill. The system will lead to a reduction in carbon emissions of 387 MTCO2e in its lifespan.
About the School
Akshara High School is an inclusive co-educational English medium, not-for-profit school founded by the Akshara Foundation for Arts and Learning, a trust established in 2008 that aims to integrate arts into education. Founded in 2006, Akshara High School is a neighborhood school for the children of the Kandivali area that come from under-serviced and underprivileged backgrounds. The school strongly believes that education is not just about the content being taught to children but also the environment in which the child learns. It aims to provide an environment that is rich in meaningful opportunities, enabling children to develop into mindful beings. Since its inception, the school has managed to maintain a subsidised fee structures and provides holistic education through activities such as art programs and sports training.
