About Us
The Switch on Solar project started as ‘Schools on Solar’ back in 2018 as an initiative led by Centre for Environmental Research and Education (CERE), India, with the vision is to combine opportunities for students and teachers to learn about environmental issues along with solar panel installation, so that schools reduce their carbon dioxide emissions. This project will help institutions reduce their energy bills which can later be reinvested in other essential institutional aids. We aim to reach out to as many institutions as possible. Our efforts to raise awareness and education led the project to expand to include offices and hospitals.
THE SCHOOLS ON SOLAR PROJECT
Schools on Solar empowers schools and students to adapt to climate change. This project is divided into two parts. Solar panel installation and environmental education.
PANEL INSTALLATION
ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION
First stage of the project involves
- scrutiny of past one year electricity bills
- site survey to determine technical feasibility
- design of solar system to be installed
- lastly, solar panel installation with auxilliary equipment.
The second stage of the project aims to reach out to students and teachers. Our team at CERE has developed a comprehensive educational module to spread awareness on climate change and benefits of renewable energy in the form of solar.
